DHEA and metformin supplements
Dear Dr.Potter,
I have recently had a very poor cycle which ended in a NT. I stimmed on 300 gonal, 150 merional for 10 days then down to just 225 merional for last 2 days. They retrieved 13 eggs, 12 mature, 10 fertilised and 7 to biopsy. Only 1 normal xx, all the others had XO or XXX so sex chromosome issues. A few also had chromosome 18 missing. The Xxx was also normal. Also, my normal XX was of poor structure so was advised not to transfer.
My question is I have recently tested for both DHEA and insulin/glucose testing and found my DHEA was only 2.7 on a 0.26-11.0 range. And my insulin/ glucose results were as follows:
Insulin fasting 9.6
1hr 67.2
2hr 3.8
Glucose fasting 4.5
1hr 5.6
2hr 37.4
From this what would you suggest I try for my next cycle? Shud I up my meds? And I am now supplementing with DHEA at 75 mg non compounded, but not sure whether I need metformin aswell?
I am a very healthy person. I tried to do low carb with the last cycle but not sure if this was strict enough. I also did a lot of weights and high level exercise which I wondered may have caused oxidative stress. I'm now trying yoga and reflexology to blance and Destress the body.
I would appreciate any advice

Hi Pink Rose 76,
Your DHEA level was in the low normal range. If you want to supplement you may.
I did not see your glucose levels in the note you wrote. Once you provide your levels I can determine if metformin is recommended.

Hi Dr Potter,
Thank you for informing me about the DHEA supplementation. Do you think I need metformin based on the above glucose and insulin numbers from my fasting tests?

Atomic, this may sound crazy but I’ve been reading about moon phases… I have a ‘red moon cycle’ currently which I didn’t used to have. Meaning my period is coinciding with the full moon. From...
