Desperate need to know more about IVF/PGD
Hello Doctor Daniel,
I am seriously contemplating IVF/PGD because my GD has been so bad with my DD2 and I suffer a lot, and my DH too, from the absence of a son in our home. I am however very concerned about the eventuality of remaining embryos after the end of the cycle.
Indeed, I would like my couple to go through IVF/PGD, but will really want to avoid having to decide on frozen embryos' fate.
My christian beliefs won't permit me to destroy...or to deal with embies in a particular manner. I'm ready for all the challenges involved in IVF, except that part. I know this in Germany, IVF does not lead to extra and unused embies.
I precise here that I would be happy with transfer of two embies, but wouldn't want any extra one to exist after 1 cycle.
Do you think this is doable at your center mindful of the necessity to produce only XY embies?
Could Microsort or any other sperm sorting technique be of help?
Many thanks.

Hi Geraldine,
What leads you to the assumption, that IVF in Germany does not produce not needed embryos?

Hi Geraldine,
We have many patients who share the same beliefs as yours. Unfortunately, in order to give you the highest probability of success we need to inject all of the eggs retrieved from your cycle. Many of our patients choose to anonymously donate their remaining embryos to another couple with fertility problems. We no longer offer Microsort.
I hope this information helps.
Kind Regards,
