Never buying a Subaru - GD TV ad

Ok I'm mad. Watching TV, relaxing, looking for a hotel for DH and I to get away for a couple nights. Hear something in the back of my consciousness while a commercial is on but I can't believe I heard correctly, so I rewind. Nope, I heard right. Two kids of one gender are both trying to get into a Subaru car's front seat, and the mom says as she's getting into the driver's seat, 'This is why I wanted (the other gender).'

I mean are you KIDDING me. What in the world is that. An advertisement they thought up, storyboarded, debated, agreed on, staffed, filmed, edited, and launched. And not one of those people realized what a shoddy, unnecessary comment that was? I mean - seriously.

I wonder what life would be like to have no consciousness of GD. Which is how the vast majority of the populace lives, I do believe. Including all the people involved in this ridiculous ad.

Poor call, Subaru. You just lost any business you might have gotten from our family!

    That is appalling. They need to get a new ad agency. One with some decent ideas.

    They really have no idea! Every time someone says to me 'oh well, as long as it is healthy' or 'oh no double trouble' or 'well I guess you will be going a third time for a girl' rather than just a simple 'congratulations' when they see my bump and ask if we know what we are having, I feel that GD b*tch get just a bit stronger, and my happiness at giving a brother to my son diminish. :(.
    My husband is convinced that all of this stuff is just in my head (which I admit a fair amount is) but he really doesn't see/hear this casual gender bias against boys that is rife throughout western society, and unfortunately the more blasé people are about it, the more ingrained it will become, this (mainly misguided) notion that boys are only noisy, dirty, loud and all these other negative connotations. Sorry I'm rambling, just wanted to say I totally get your frustration!

    OMG I SAW THIS TOO!!! And of course DH turns to me and says, "that's you." I wanted to smack him. So angry!!!
