"You should be sitting down!"
... is that correct? Sounds weirdSorry for my bad English! - I am from Austria!!

Now, "you need to sit down for this" has a different, implied meaning to it. It means you better brace yourself for what I'm about to say!

Well it really kind of depends on the context...like NBP says, if you are trying to get across that they need to prepare themselves for news in some way...then it should be "you better sit down for this" or something along those lines.
You know you're right, I'm sitting here reading it aloud and it DOES sound weird, lol.Sept 2008 & successful boy sway June 2010.

I also think there is something implied that a person may look very tired - you should be sitting down (because you are pregnant, sick, look exhausted)
