if you have two boys are you more likely to have a third??

Ok so a friend of mine had a boy 5 yrs ago then has had a few miscarriages and is now pregnant again with another boy she didn't really want 3 but is desperate for a girl so I told her about this site shes not sure as doesn't want to gwtoobsessed with the whole swaying thing. Im just wondering if she has two boys without swaying is she more likely to have another boy?? People keep saying she probably lost girls through miscarriage which really upsets her. I do notice more people with same sex familys so wondering how true it could be and do odds go up they more ypu have.

I don't think that is true. There is no way to predict the "odds"of having either sex. Having two boys doesn't precursor a women to have another. It's all based on many factors including luck!

I don't think she's necessarily more likely to have another boy. MOST people with 3 kids have mixed genders. I'm the only one out of all my friends and family that 3 of the same gender.

Well, technically, yes. She is more likely to have a boy because in any single pregnancy, one stands 1% more of a chance of having a boy than a girl (the general birth spread is 51 boys to 49 girls and has remained so throughout notable history). HOWEVER, statistics mean very little in regards to an individual being more inclined to have one or the other. There are so many factors that go into conceiving a certain gender that it's hard to say what her personal odds would be. She would have much greater odds of having a girl next if she made a few changes that would help her in the direction of swaying. But, even if she just went for it, she has a shot at a girl. I've known plenty of women who changed nothing and had a girl after two boys. I've also known plenty who have changed nothing and had a third boy. A portion of it is just plain luck as well.

We may be done, we may come back for one more sway. Time will tell. At the moment, we are very content with our family!

There's a great essay by atomic on this. Yes statistically it is more common to have 3 boys in a row than 3 girls. But even more likely to have mixed boys/girls.

There is absolutely NO scientific evidence that anyone "can't carry a girl" and there is a full explanation of that here. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/sway...by-gender.html

Overall across the population, if you have two boys you are ~slightly~ more likely to conceive a third BUT that doesn't really speak to any one individual's actual odds. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...ead-lindi.html

    2-Children Families

All Boys - the real number was 25.8% (25.0% Predicted)
    Mixed genders - 52.2% Actual (50.0% Predicted)
All Girls 22.0% Actual (25.0% Predicted)

So right away, you can see that it's more common to have two boys than it is 2 girls, by more than 3%!!!

    3-Children Families
All Boys 14.9% Actual (12.5% Predicted)
    Mixed 73.0% A (75.0% P)
All Girls 12.1% Actual (12.5% Predicted)

    4-Children Families
All Boys 9.1% Actual (6.3% Predicted)
    Mixed 85.4% A (87.4% P)
All Girls 5.5% Actual (6.3% Predicted)

Four boys are more common than four girls by a whopping 4%!!

And in every category, mixed gender families were less common than they technically "should" be.

Compare this to our results with swaying:

About 64% got pink overall, about 68% got pink with Custom Plan

    http://genderdreaming.com/forum/tryi...readsheet.html

For blue in 2013 we got about 65% http://genderdreaming.com/forum/add-...we-having.html

2014 so far we are getting 80% success for blue http://genderdreaming.com/forum/add-...we-having.html

So it seems it is possible to go from being as much as 65-80% set for blue (depending on your lifestyle, diet, etc) to 65% set for pink. Much better than the results of just crossing fingers and TTC again, that's for sure.

Thanks atomic I've told a couple close friends about this site after my success' It's mad how many woman have told me how they 'have tried' for a girl but just using there timing. And I'm like wow there's so much you just don't know!!! I'm surprised how many friends want a girl and how it does seem girls are more favoured (in my opinion of women I chat too) wonder if these numbers will turn around in yrs to come and more girls start being born where woman look for more info now that googling for stuff is so much more popular. I Notice all one gender family's so much more now and often think, are they happy, did they try and sway or has it really never crossed there mind.thanks x
