I'm curious: Has anyone here had PPD after getting her desired gender?

So, I suffered from PPD after both of my pregnancies and in fact my second bout never ended and five years on I have chronic depression.

I don't blame my GD. I wanted my oldest to be a boy and still had PPD after his birth but that was before gender became a big, consuming thing for me.

What I'm wondering is if anyone here who previously had both gender disappointment and PPD got it again after having their desired gender.

Is it really such an ecstatic event that you can't be depressed, or if your brain is predisposed to PPD are you doomed to get it even after the thrill of realizing such a big dream?

Edited to add: Do any PPD sufferers here also have any feedback about PPD after GD/an opposite? Did you get it/did you not get it?

For me, my GD during both of my pregnancies was absolutely terrible, but I was lucky and did not get ppd either time (although I was terrified of it happening both times as I was SO depressed during my pregnancies).

PPD is a chemical imbalance in the brain so can 'strike' during any post birth situation (GD or not). It truly is nothing to be ashamed of, any more than getting a UTI during pregnancy or mastitis whilst bf. Sadly it is just one of those things that sometimes happens.

Yes I know of quite a few people who really seemed to struggle badly after getting their desired gender. This seems to be most often moms of girls who got boys, but there are enough moms of boys who got girls that it throws my theorizing off there.

PPD has nothing to do with how happy you are, it's actually a chemical thing in your brain where your body doesn't adjust to not being pregnant any more. This affects all of us differently - some have heart palpitations and hot flashes and others have depressive symptoms.
