Women trying to conceive should take vitamins: researchers - Telegraph

Some of you may have read this study or reports about it and panicked if you chose not to take prenatal vitamins for a part of your sway but I hope you read the ENTIRE article.

The women in this study were not able to conceive themselves and had been tested and found lacking in those nutrients to begin with. As the article states, the women in the study had been found to have low levels of iron, B12, and folic acid before conception. This is NOT a study that applies to the average person at all in any way.

It is SAFE to TTC without taking a prenatal first as long as you are taking your folic acid and eating a fairly balanced diet. The LE Diet/HE Diets in particular is designed to be a healthy balanced diet and you can get healthy amounts of all nutrients while following it. Even on the French and IG Diets, most people tolerate them perfectly well. Nutrient deficiencies take YEARS to develop and if you normally eat a very balanced diet, you almost certainly have enough nutrients stored to last you a very long while (iron, B12, calcium, Vit. A, D, K, among others are stored by your body). It IS a good idea to try and conceive quickly on all diets just to make sure that you don't end up depleting your body of nutrients over the course of many months or years (I know of at least one person who swayed for almost 2 years.)
