Gender selection of first child
Dear ladies, i have been reading some posts of this forum and finally i decided to write (i feel embarrassed and a bit scared of asking)
I am 37, have no kids, and happily married. I know it might sound weird but i only want a kid, and a want that baby to be a boy. Do you think i have any chances to get help from a fertility centrum for choosing the gender of the baby?
Thanks so so much 😙

Clinics in the US will help.

Yes, many clinics will do gender selection for a first child, including HRC. Where are you located?

I don't know anything about European clinics so maybe someone will comment about that, but I believe US clinics, although more expensive, have higher success rates than European ones (that offer gender selection, which aren't many unfortunately).
I like to use this website to quickly look up success rates: Best IVF Clinics By IVF Success Rates In United States For Women 35-37
I would look at the stats for women age 35-37, women age 38-40 depending on how close you are to age 38, and donor egg success rates. You'll want to avoid multiples so the number of embryos transferred is relevant as well. Experience using PGD is also relevant; you can find that in the SART reports I believe.
Taking a quick look, maybe NC Center for Reproductive Medicine and definitely HRC (any office is fine; Dr. Potter is at Orange County) would be good choices.

Wow!Thanks amelia, thats a lot of interesting information!
As i have read in some US clinics webs, they practise gender selection in order to help "balancing the family", and as i have no kids....i thought they wouldnt consider helping me...Last edited by doubty; December 18th, 2014 at 03:17 PM.

I think they use the term family balancing because it is a gentle term that provokes less judgement. I would think some clinics would do it for a fist child. After all, if you wanted one child, a boy but got a girl then your family would be quite unbalanced in terms of what you were hoping for. Goodluck

I might actually be over my deep yearning for a and it's an exciting feeling
