    How long to abstain for?

I know, yet another question for me! I did try and find the answers but this website is so huge i am finding it a bit difficult until i can navigate around it properly. Anyway, for swaying pink how long would DH have to abstain for before doing our one attempt at +opk? We are NOT frequent in bd at all, as we both have low libidio's, so its easier for DH to abstain.. i'm just not sure for how long.

Usually DH will try to abstain for a week, and only if he's under 35 as otherwise it's not safe for prostrate health.

I honestly don't think abstaining is a good tactic. It doesn't have great stats and my DF has been doing long abstains (2-4 weeks!) and I'm on cycle 7 TTC. I think if he's up for it, daily release all cycle long (either by himself, with your help, or sex using a condom or pulling out if that is known to work for you) is the best route. It's healthier for both DH and sperm quality but you still get some reduction of sperm count & semen volume with daily release.

Or if you're feeling overwhelmed, just have DH release/have protected sex however often you like. Frequency does not seem to sway much if at all. With BD, the only thing to really worry about is how many attempts you do, and for pink you just want one well timed attempt, thus why we do so when we get our first positive OPK.

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

HOw old is your DH?? IF he's over 35, he should not abstain no matter what.

IF he's under 35 you can abstain for 7-10 days, never go any longer than 14.

about abstain getting crap results. Very disappointing and while I do still believe it sways pink, I think we are seeing better results with people skipping the pink frequency stuff and having DH do regular release every 2-4 days and then doing one attempt.

DH is 35. He is on meds which lower his libido and make it hard for him to finish too, so we are also trying to get over that that hurdle. Ok, so release eery 2-4 days? I tend to ovulate late as well

DH said he will be able to manage FR if he has to, but i am a little concerned as i am literally on my first postpartum af since having bub #3 in august last year. I have no idea when i will ovulate... generally anywhere from cd16-28, so i don't know when to have him start releasing.. i am on cd3 now

I would do the diet + exercise for 12w before TTC. It really improves your chances of a girl.

As for DH, considering his situation I think him just releasing every few days as he/you wish is best. I wouldn't try for FR.

Yes that is right. Under no circumstances would I have a guy do FR in that scenario. Just have him do reg. release and then one attempt at pos OPK.
