abstaining or every 4 days
Hi
Sorry if this question has been asked before i had always planned on doing abstaining for 7 days or more as part of my sway (with a cut off and 1 attempt) but looking at the stats every 4 days seems to have better results? im in no rush to get pregnant just would like to know what seems to "sway" better would also be great to hear what others are doing or did and got there girl! Thanks in advance x

The best, most pink friendly way to BD is to have just ONE attempt 1-2 days before O, which is best accomplished by BDing just once as soon as you get a clear positive OPK. Every 4 days is slightly less optimal and used for women in a hurry to get pregnant due to age and/or for whom OPKs don't work well or at all. Cut offs don't work bc timing doesn't sway, amd abstinence doesn't seem to sway that much. I definitely wouldn't do a longer than 7 day abstain period. But honestly I think it's best if DH releases regularly (every 2-4 days, as he likes) either by himself or with you using a condom or another non-conceptive way.
4 days looks better than it might actually be due to the small sample size, plus it is a very new tactic, so I really wouldn't read into it. One attempt ar OPK is something we know for sure is swaying strongly pink. But remember that there is no one magic bullet that gaurantees a girl. To have the best chances, you need to do multiple things, including diet foremost, daily cardio exercise for an hour if possible or very sedentary if you can't do the preferable cardio, and just 1 BD attempt timed well for conception. Clomid/Femara or less optimally, Vitex/Saw Palmetto/Peppermint Tea, can help too, as well as Olive Leaf Extract/Licorice Root for DH. Plus he can do diet and exercise with you.

Reason: typos!
My Ovulation Chart currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP
TTC #1
- swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!
Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic
Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

You can't read the stats like that. Different groups of people are doing the every 4 day method (have been on diet longer, having trouble getting pregnant) than are doing abstain and it is not a scientific study we're doing here. People who did abstain are younger and are probably more fertile than people who did every 4 days.
Plus, the every 4 days as listed in the stats is NOT BD every 4 days, it is the people who had their husbands release every 4 days. I do not think we have but just a very few results for every 4 day method yet and I do not think it is even in the stats so far???

Just went and looked at the stats and I need to clarify to everyone that the "every 4 days" in the stats is NOT the every 4 day method. It is having husband doing regular release. That section was for FREQUENCY patterns and not number of attempts or how many. Some of the results may be every 4 day method, others may not be. I will have Rainbow update it but she is due to have a baby fairly soon and may not be available to change it. (I don't like altering the stats because I feel it is unethical)
We BARELY have ANY results with every 4 day method yet. We for sure do not have 40! That is not accurate info, just want everyone to understand that.

so back in April on my custom sway chat area where you told me to bd every 4 days, that was misreading the 77% success rate....? Because yep every 4 days is listed under fr not timing (timing does have 4+ Cutoff day stat of 80 something percent)
thanks for being wiling to clear this up....my hubs is all alpha male when it comes to when we bd ....

I barely ever look at the stats. I am having everyone who has trouble getting pregnant do either regular release and one attempt or every 4 days because it's WAY better odds of conception. I would not have had you use any different tactic no matter what.
We are getting that success rate with husband releasing every 2-4 days but keeping one attempt.
The timing stats are worthless because no one knows when they really ovulated. This has been shown to my satisfaction in 2 different, well done studies and people could only guess day of O about 30-60% of the time.
Atomic, this may sound crazy but I’ve been reading about moon phases… I have a ‘red moon cycle’ currently which I didn’t used to have. Meaning my period is coinciding with the full moon. From...
