Upper limits
Hey all
Just after some opinions really - I'm now on week 9 of LE diet and intense cardio for 60-65mins 6 days a week.
I've lost around 10lb since starting LE diet & exercise, but I had also lost 10lb immediately before this on another diet (it was protein-rich though)
My worry is that I am pushing the upper limits every day I'm on LE and on cheat days, obviously way over (although still staying away from meat and eggs!)
I have 1800 cals every day, maybe 48-50g protein and 45-50g fat
I'm quite tall - a little over 5 foot 8 inches, and I'm on my exercise bike for 60-65 mins every night, so I'm struggling to cut down my cals below 1800. I think previously, I could have eaten 2500-3000 cals a day so it's a decent change for me, but it's definitely pushing the upper limits every day
Do I need to try harder? Will I get a good enough sway from this?
Thanks again everyone - appreciate any and all replies

I think it is perfect for you if you are working out as much as you are. I did 1800-2000 calories (I'm 5'7") and 50g protein, 60g fat so I think you are doing perfectly. I know there is a lady on here who did the upper limits closer to what I did and she got her girl. Your body uses up more reserves when you exercise so even if you are getting 10g more protein or fat a day your body is probably eliminating it through exercise.

I did upper limits and often over + exercise and conceived a girl. I think if you are doing the exercise then you don't need to be too strict on the diet and you probably need that much anyway. Just be careful not too lose too much weight. It might take a few months of TTC to get pregnant and you've still got to have a little to spare. Goodluck xx

I agree with the other ladies, it sounds fine especially since you're working out so much and are tall. If you were to cut back too much you could end up stopping ovulation, which is what happened to me. Good luck to you!

Anyone who is tall, breastfeeding, exercising a lot, or experiencing rapid weight loss - UP CALS. There really, truly IS no upper level on LE, you can just keep upping it using weight loss as your guideline until weight loss stops. IT is FINE and allowed to go up to 1800-2000, or even 2000-2200 to stop weight loss. What you need to understand is there is no magic to these numbers, I had to pick SOMEthing to tell people, but what really matters is that you were eating less than you WERE and your body senses a change. You are doing great, keep it up.

Trust me - it's better to start high and cut back than start TOO low and then have to increase!

Thanks all - this is hugely reassuring and I really appreciate the feedback. My attempt is planned for the end of week 14/start of week 15 and I'm in week 9 now, so feeling like I could actually manage it!!

I have def been at the upper limits of LE not just on calories but even going over on fat and protein. But ummm I used to eat 3 eggs a day for breakfast with bacon. I'm at the lower end of a normal bmi (5'4" and 110 pounds). I can just eat a lot and if I don't get enough fat and protein, I get cranky.

I'd still try to limit fat/protein within the LE Diet range and make up the rest with carbs.
But yeah definitely any changes you make in a pink direction are all good.
It’s been awhile but I keep meaning to come back and say we swayed girl in 2022 and had a little girl in early 2023! First girl born in 110+ years on my husband’s side.[emoji179]
