Boy or girl? Am I even looking at the right thing?

    Hi all!

At my ob-gyn appointment this morning, the doctor looked at my 12-week ultrasound and said she could tell the gender from the angle of the genital tuber, which I'd never heard of. I asked of course, and she said she thought it was a boy.

When she explained it to me I could see it, but now after looking at other ultrasounds online I'm wondering if I was even looking at the right thing: I was looking at the reversed "J" shape, but isn't that just the umbilical cord? If it's the bud slightly to the right of that, isn't it still too bud-like to tell the angle?

I'd love to hear your guesses. Many thanks!
    Camille.

Looks like a boy! You're looking I the right spot. The cord would be further up on the belly, but it didn't get captured in this shot.

    Thank you for your responses!
I was actually hoping for a girl since my first is a boy and we only plan to have two, but this is helpful to set my expectations. Two boys is a great configuration too!

I'd say your tech was right on! Looks like your son is getting a baby brother!
A: "Owner" of the following brood:
-Our biggest surprise dude (L: 2009)
-Our rainbow little man (K: 2011)
-Our sway and pray little diva (J: 2013)
-Our lucky charm guy (S: 2015)
We may be done, we may come back for one more sway. Time will tell. At the moment, we are very content with our family!
