I had it done with DS1, since he was 8 days late and they wouldn't let me go to 12 days past my due date because of low amniotic fluid. They striped my membranes at 9:00am on 8/30/2010 and he was born at 3:53am on 8/31/2010! I went into labor exactly 12hours after it was done at 9:00pm.
I was mildly uncomfortable. It felt like menstrual cramps when it was done, and I had Braxton Hicks for a while afterward.
I didn't have it done with DS2 because he came four days early! I would do it again in a heartbeat.
GL to you!

I had it done when my son was a few days late. It wasn't memorably painful or uncomfortable. It also didn't start my labor.

I had it done twice. It will definitely start some contractions but if baby isnt ready they will stop. I thought getting it done hurt a lot but my cervix is in a funny spot which makes everything more painful to me.

the sweep isnt such a big deal the stretch though if they have to stretch your cervix to me anyway was excruciating. Labor and the actual delivery didn't hurt as much as that did. I actually kicked the doctor out that did it twice after I told him to stop.

Had it done once and it wasn't great but not the worst pain I've ever had either. I'd equate to getting ears pierced but in a more sensitive part of anatomy. I was 4 or 5 days late when I had it done, and I was having mild contractions in the car on the way home and had him about 12 hours later.

That is the biggest thing baby jones. If this gets you the birth experience you want, you go for it! Remember everyone's pain threshold is different and all in how its done. A sharp pain is always worse than a slowly increasing pain but some people can just shrug both off like its nothing.

What Rosie said. Unless baby is actually ready then only medical induction or a problem will start labour. When baby's lungs are fully mature they release a surfactant that sends a hormone signal to your body that the time is right

Atomic, this may sound crazy but I’ve been reading about moon phases… I have a ‘red moon cycle’ currently which I didn’t used to have. Meaning my period is coinciding with the full moon. From...
