YES to the pain, it's called PGP, pelvic girdle pain, and I found ob's completely useless in diagnosing it. One midwife told me I had sciatica so they aren't much better. I went to a physiotherapist and naturopath and both said PGP was the issue. I was given a belly belt, some exercises and a list of things not to do. Here is the brief rundown, see if this helps:
- Get a belly support band, especially if carrying twins, wear it whenever the pain is too bad, you may find it helps for a few hours but then feels a bit tight so I took mine off frequently and just used it when the pain was really bad
- Sit on a bit exercise ball at the dinner table or when you are at your desk. This strengthens the core muscles, and stabilises the pelvis, without putting too much pressure on anything that will aggravate it.
- You can google it too, but here are some key exercises: Yoga Poses and Exercises to Help Ease Pain from Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction | Birth Bliss
- Walking will most likely aggravate it, but *some* people find it helps. Try and see. In my case going for a walk made it much worse, but the other exercises particularly number 12 in the above link really helped.
- Don't get out of the car or up from a chair using the "britney" pose (you know, one leg out first, so you flash your underwear, or lack thereof). hehe. Move both legs with knees together and avoid putting pressure on that middle pelvic bone which can separate and make things worse
The exercise ball did wonders for me, it wasn't comfortable at first but after a few weeks of that and a few key exercises my back and hip pain was far better.
I had PGP with all 3 pregnancies but far worse with ds2, and it was misdiagnosed as sciatica so I was doing all the wrong things to "help". By the end with ds2 I could barely walk without holding onto the furniture, so believe me when I say these things DO work, because I got it earlier and worse this time, and am now 25 sleeps from meeting baby and can walk with almost no pain, which is a HUGE difference to last time.
I also had round ligament pain which you may experience with twins, google that too and see. It's quite painful but nothing to worry about. I haven't found a trick to help that yet.Last edited by meeks32; January 9th, 2014 at 11:51 PM.

People are just stupid and unfair sometimes. I have had very similar comments. Also, I find if I wear black, people start saying "oh my gosh you are sooooo tiny, all bump" but if I wear a dress, people say "oh my gosh you are huge, when WERE you due? You are way bigger than last time/me/my aunt's pregnant dog". har har.
Why is it even acceptable to comment on a woman's weight just because she's pregnant???? Nobody walks up to a friend on the street and says "wow, you've packed on the pounds in the last few weeks haven't you?", but they would say "oh wow you look amazing" if a friend had lost weight. In my book its nice comments, or nothing at all thank you very much!!!!
But people do it anyway, weather you know them or not, and it's begun annoying me even if they are being nice.
And for the record, my friends that had twins weren't any bigger than a 39-42 week pregnant lady, because twins almost always go early. Usually between 34-36 weeks, or some "lucky" (unlucky/uncomfortable) ones manage to keep them in until 38 max. So next time someone asks that just tell them where to go!DS1 2009, DS2 2011.

Firstly, hellooooo there cute baby! So glad everything is healthy and well.
Secondly, WHAT? NO GENDER CLUES? NOT-FAIR! So sorry you now have to wait. Thats really mean of the baby and gp isn't it? lol, but seriously, not fair. On the upside you save yourself nub-sessing. And trust me, even if you thought you wouldn't, you would. Not much of an upside, but you have to find what you can.
So when is the anatomy scan? No chance of private gender scan at 15-16 weeks?DS1 2009, DS2 2011.

Congrats again emily, well done. 32h of labour and 4,2kg?! WOW!
Meeks thank you so much for all the info, you are awesome! At first I only noticed the pain whenever I did get up from a sitting position and it would only hurt the first few steps but no it gets worse the more I walk. When I do too much around the house it gets really bad and I can't walk without holding on to the furniture. I'll try to add in some exercise and see if it helps. Thank you so much!
When I hear what kind of comments you girls get on your weight I am kind of scared of what people are going to say to me!!

Thanks girls. You are making me feel much better about the comments. But I completely agree just because someone is pregnant does not mean the whole world has got a right to comment on their weight or shape.
As for PGP: I have had it for quite a while with this pregnancy, none at all with the 1st. I wish I had mentioned it on here and received meeks' advice as it sounds like it would have done the trick to help. I have now got the exercise ball out (to get baby moving), but I believe it may be too late to relieve the PGP. And you are right, meeks, I'm okay whilst on it, but as soon as I come off I walk like an old lady. I am the lady who can hardly get up from a sitting or lying position and then having to hold on to the furniture. Nevermind from playing on the floor with DS1. Glamorous and glowing whilst pregnant?... Hmmm, not so much here.

Congrats Emily! Hope you have a good journey home with your new family. She's gorgeous btw
Gecon those last few weeks of pg are always testing without stupid comments from mindless idiots! I hate how people think pg makes your body public property as it were. No-one wants to hear that they look fat - ever!!! I bet you're blooming & look wonderful with your almost ready baby bump.
I'd far sooner have the huge bump than the deflated balloon belly that I have now! Thankfully due to LE it's nowhere near as bad as it was with ds2. I remember being asked when I was due when ds2 was about 2-3 weeks old!

I was just wondering if anyone on here is in touch via FB or similar with 3boys and/or 2lovelyboys. Neither of them have been online for a while, which is obviously fine, but it would just be nice to know they and their little bundles are well.

2 weeks before. Keep in mind that many people think they actually sway blue and WANT to be on them for their sway. OPK are fallible. We use them because it's the best technology we have, but...
